Where kids are concerned, the selection of good fruit choices in winter can be difficult. This winter give them something they might really enjoy in their lunchbox or for an after school snack. Offer a Washington state apple that may look like others, but the taste is purely unique. Grāpple® brand apples combine two favorite fruits- apples and grapes into one crunchy bite kids really enjoy.
“I like Grāpples because they are not an ordinary apple. I mean I really like apples but it’s nice to bite into something different for a change but its still an apple- which I really like,” said student, Colin Anderson.
Grāpple® brand apples are incredibly crunchy and sweet and give off the aroma of concord grapes, which kids really like. Kids love the combination of mixing up two favorite flavors; after all there aren’t many other healthy, natural products like a Grāpple in the marketplace. Parents like them too, as they give kids a healthy snack while still tasting good.
The health benefits of Grāpple brand apples are the same as for other apples. The process of making them does not add any extra sugar, calories, carbohydrates or anything else; in fact the apple maintains its natural supply of vitamins, minerals, nutrients & fiber. They are a good source of fiber, have a low glycemic index and contain about 95 calories, depending on the size. They are not genetically altered in any way. All ingredients are USDA and FDA approved and the process has been licensed by the Washington State Department of Agriculture.
Serve up Grāpple Snacks:
Crunch Grāpple Slices
Core, cut and slice 2 Grāpples, crush ½ c of your favorite cereal like Chex or Rice
Krispies, mix 1 teaspoons packed brown sugar and 2 tablespoons peanut butter
together. Spread the brown sugar and peanut butter onto Grāpple slices and roll in
cereal.
Grāpple Kabobs
Core, quarter and cube a Grāpple. Slice some cheese into similarly sized cubes. Skewer the apples and cheese alternately on toothpicks, adding a raisin or other dried fruit. If packing for school lunch, dip the apples into a little lemonade first to keep them from turning brown.
Dried Grāpples
You can easily dry your own apples without any preservatives. Cut a Grāpple into 1/4 inch thick slices. Dip them into a bowl of lemon water or lemonade. Spread out on a metal rack and set into a warm oven (180 degrees) for two or three hours. Turn off the oven and let them cool.
Baked Grāpples
Place a cored apple in a buttered ramekin. Add 1 teaspoon of butter, 1 teaspoon of brown sugar and a 1/4-teaspoon of cinnamon into the center hole. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes.
